Question of the day: How was Joseph able to interpret Pharaoh's dream?
In verse 36, even Pharoah recognized that it was God who gave the message to Joseph. God used this to advance his plan to save the future nation of Israel. Had Joseph simply been freed at this point, we likely would have returned to his father in Canaan. Instead, by remaining in Egypt, he was able to help his family when they came searching for food in chapter 42.
