Question of the day: What did Jesus mean when he called Peter the "rock"?
Jesus was foretelling that Peter would be the leader of the church after Jesus left the earth. Peter led the church in Jerusalem until the church was forced underground and Peter fled to Rome. He was martyred in Rome by being hanged upside down on a cross in approximately 64 A.D.
